Commercialization

The BEST Start Fund helps our institute meet the immediate financial challenge of taking early stage intellectual property to the next level. The BEST Start Fund is the first step in the commercialization of Rutgers University IP by providing the requisite funding needed to enable select student/faculty teams to start small commercial enterprises. An evergreen (self-perpetuating) fund owned by Rutgers, the fund will be used to help establish start-ups, and then advise and nurture the start-ups until they mature into viable enterprises. BEST Start Fund profits will be largely reinvested, thereby sustaining the innovation commercialization cycle.

Virtual Reality

Education

With support from alumni and friends, we can outfit the Business Information Simulation (BIS) Lab with state of  the art computers, software and supplies. Our goal is to have the BIS Lab operating by the Spring semester of 2009. The lab will be a unique training environment - giving science and business students the tools they will need to begin the process of commercializing intellectual property and creating start-up companies. Located in the BEST Center for Entrepreneurship in the CoRE Building on Rutgers University's Busch Campus, the BIS Lab is an efficient and cost effective environment for providing students with hand-on experience in the IP commercialization process.
